How did they even fit?

When my husband brought Baby Camouflage and Big Camouflage (Our 4 year old named them... Every Betta we have owned has been Charlie. Or, as he likes to say, that's Charlie's brother, his name is Charlie...) home 2 weeks ago, they were in the painted shells on the left. Now, they have moved into shells the size of the turbo on the right. They haven't even molted yet! How did they even fit into those painted shells?
