Crushing up food

Post by Mareece » Mon Oct 24, 2016 12:20 pm

I recently bought fluker's brand freeze dried mealworms and crickets and crushed them up using a smooth rock and a tupperware. Is there a faster way to crush up these bugs other than using a blender?

I use a small mortar and pestle to grind up all of crabs' dry foods.

I suppose I could try the bugs that way - where are the mortar and pestles at Walmart - by the kitchen stuff?

On the website it is listed as being in kitchen & dining. There's a few ceramic ones and a bamboo one that are all $10 or less.

I've pulsed oatmeal, eggshells and other grains and seeds in a coffee grinder, but I shared the grinder with my crabs so I never did bugs! My old grinder died, looking for a cheap one to dedicate to crab food.

I bought my coffee grinder from Kroger for about ten dollars. Its decent. Good enough for the crab food.

I just bought a dedicated gross-stuff-only cheap coffee grinder for crabies. Roommate is super grossed out.

Side question, is it I'm postnatal to crush/grid their food or can you allow them to scavenge what they will?
