I was just reviewing the food section and I found that most of the food I am currently using may be harmful to my crab!
I currently use:
-Florida Marine Wildlife Research hermit crab food
-Hermit crab cakes (it is in a small yellow bottle, on the list of not good commercial foods in the food page)
-Freeze dried meal worms
-Zoo-Med fruit salad
-Zoo-Med crunchies
-cuttlebone that I shave into small pieces and sprinkle onto the food
I also give her fresh food quite often, unsalted peanuts, carrots, apples, blueberries, and honey mainly.
She has been very healthy as far as I can tell, and she has been eating the crab cakes long before she came into my care.
The first two are a staple in my crab's diet, and she has been eating them for quite some time now, while the last 4 things are new and were not on the unsafe commercial food list. Money is tight for me right now, but I really need some advice on how to update her food so it is healthier for her!

Re: Food Help
We stay away from pet store/commercial foods. We buy from members of the HCA. There's a link of places to buy foods on Motorcrabs profile. They include Hermies Kitchen, the Healthy Hermit, MT pet emporium, the Cholla Queen to name a few. You can also go to your local natural food store and get organic flowers and herbs.

Re: Food Help
I think the zoomed fruit salad should be fine as long as it is only freeze dried fruit. I almost bought it but I was on a budget.
I have had pets in the past, but my family can’t have any furry or feathered ones due to allergies. I usually try my best to help and currently trying to set up a crabitat. I also try to treat others with Love!❤️

You don’t even have to buy foods special if you don’t want to. Many foods you buy for yourself can be offered to them, as well.
