Hey. I found Peanuts and Sunflower seeds listed in the Safe Food list. I have 3 female mice, Loki, Agnes and Precious. I have Browns Tropical Carnival for them and I have to take out the striped sunflower seeds and peanuts due to being too high in fat content and also a possibility of allergies. So, I have a whole crap load of Sunflower Seeds and Peanuts building up and nothing for me to feed them too. I don't want to eat them because last time I did, the peanuts tasted like Almonds with a hint of rat flavor and it kind of grossed me out.
So, in the Browns Tropical Carnival Hamster Gerbil mix, there's a large list of ingredients, so bare with me here:

Great. A long list. Took three millennia to write this and my back hurts like heck now.
So, if there are all of these 10 million things, are the peanuts and sunflower seeds still safe? Or am I better off not feeding my hermit crabs anything from this bag? Thanks a bunch.
Peanuts and Sunflower seeds recycled from mouse food?
Re: Peanuts and Sunflower seeds recycled from mouse food?
I think the only questionable ingredients are rosemary, artificial banana flavor, and the added colors. I never thought to offer the leftover peanuts and sunflower seeds to the crabs. Both are perfectly safe alone but I'm a bit hesitant to say they're for sure safe being pulled from that mix. The whole mix has a weird smell coating it that I guess is the artificial banana? I'm not really sure. Hopefully someone else will chime in with an opinion and from there you can make your own decision.
I do give the sunflower seeds to the mice and our hamster as occasional treats. At first I offered the occasional peanut as a treat too but they won't touch them. I am not planning to purchase this food again though.

Also I thought soy was bad for them? Peanuts and sunflower seeds aren't bad by themselves so I would try it with the crabs. I have tried wild bird food with them before and they ate it. A lot of the commercial pet foods have ingredients like that.

Soy is on the safe list. Many crabbers avoid commercial foods because of ingredients like that. Personal choice though. I don't know if they are harmful or not.

I think you'd be fine if you're pulling out the peanuts and sunflower seeds. If you decide not to feed them to your hermies, the birds would gobble that up!!
