Do fruits and veggies have to be organic?

Post by SBLGO2014 » Sun Jan 11, 2015 1:32 pm

I know it's best to feed the crabs all organic produce but it's not readily available where I live. And if it is available, it is almost double the price of regular produce.

So far when feeding my crabs produce, I've made sure to scrub the outside of the fruits and veggies very thoroughly. If it's a pesticide prone fruit or vegetable, like carrots and apples, I've only been feeding them the inside of the apple and have been peeling the carrots. Does this suffice or do I definitely need to get organic?

I do see frozen organic produce available that's more economical, but it's hard to tell if it's been prepared or frozen with chlorinated water. Waiting on my order from HCP as well.

Organic is best but not always easy to do. I buy organic when I can but otherwise wash well and peel. There's a list somewhere of produce to really watch out for and best purchased organic...I'll see if I can find it.
