littlemissgeo, crabbers originally thought hermit crabs could not digest the lactose in dairy products. Some people have fed crabs dairy without any problems! I would do it sparingly, if any. I don't feed any dairy, I stay with fruits, flowers, vegetables, fish, nuts, leaves, well you get the picture: what they would find in their natural area.

By the way, tonight is an all-vegetarian hermie salad!
~Romaine lettuce bed with dandelion petals (found the dandelion today-it finally got warmer here :D ), and topped off with sunflower seed. Sounds good.

my crabs really have a taste for smelt, too. tonight is going to be carrots in a cuttlebone-eggshell-sun-driedshrimp powder. Sounds yummy :D

Tonight is shredded coconut, spirulina powder, cuttle bone powder, ground almonds and raw honey (from the public market yay for .75!) with a pinch of my fruit kibble all mixed together and some raw sweet potatoes and some salmon from a pouch I got for .88 at WalMart.
Last night they had a silverside (they only ate the tails and the eyeballs), a dandelion flower and it's leaves! (It was the first and only dandelion I have seen this year lol)

well for sure I'm thinking of introducing dandelion for the 1st time 2night since it's finally warm enough for it to grow now.. I gave the son a mission to pic dandelions for the crabs earlier and he hooked up about 15 or so.. being as i've never fed this before and are getting them from the lawn outside.. which is not treated with anything.. I should be able to just rinse them real good under water and feed them to the crabs right?!?! :?:

Tonight's Menu:

Appetizer: popcorn atop shredded carrot, shelled edamame, and a romaine leaf
Main Course: slightly nuked chicken breast atop white rice drizzled with EVOO
Dessert: Organic applesauce mixed with crushed unsalted almonds and spirulina powder, topped with some popcorn bits

Me? I'm having a corndog for the third night in a row. I resigned long ago to the fact that my hermit crabs eat better than I do.

Tonight is pretty simply: dandelion (untreated, no fertilizer) and a bit of olive oil and shrimp.

This thread has given me some great ideas. Up until now they got FMR (I know, I know, but I'm new to this!) and maybe a romaine leaf. Last night's dinner was my first attempt at a "gourmet crab delight", LOL. Minced strawberry, grape, and peanut with grated carrot and a drop of honey. They loved it! I was chopping this all up while my husband reheated leftover pizza for his dinner.

I have a little Tupperware in the fridge now with bits of this and that, saved for future meals.

It is a very inspiring thread... too bad more people don't take pics of the dinners... some have and they look so gourmet. :)

Mine are having...

Over ripe banana
Dandelion
Nars seaweed kibble
Red Palm oil
Coconut oil

Quinoa, raisin, frozen org blueberries, honey, egg, egg shell, wakame seaweed, dehydrated shrimp, almond butter...

And these guys are still destressing! I haven't even met one of them yet he went sublevel so fast.

The only thing that I can tell has been touched is the blueberries.
