I use scissors to shave a small layer off, right over their food dish. Others put small chunks right in the tank.

You can crush it, break off chunks, or put it in whole. Up to you.

I always keep a piece in my crabitats. Usually whole. I stick it up on a second level to keep it from getting buried.

If I put it in there whole do they just go up and nibble on it? Can they over dose on it. (Probably a dumb question, but I've only had them 2 weeks and I want then to thrive)

As long as you are providing a good variety of many nutrients crabs do not eat exclusively and gorge on any one thing.

Yep, they'll easily pick off what they want to eat. No, they can't/won't eat too much. I keep a few different sources of calcium available in my tank at all times since I found this forum in 2008. They eat what they need.

I just transferred my remaining 3 crabbies into their new 100g home the other day and stuck a whole cuttlebone in there. I stick it in the sand halfway like a surfboard sticking out (gives me a giggle) ... they've already munched a big moon shape into it. So yes how ever you wanna do it they'll find a way to nom it
