Soy/tofu?

I keep looking for alternate protein sources to keep things varied for the crabs. I saw that soy products are on the safe list, but I'm wondering if people's crabs actually like tofu? I know by itself it's pretty bland, so any ideas on how to prep it to make it tastier?

I have no real idea when it comes to tofu- but maybe honey? Lol just a thought?

Ooh, honey could work! I was also thinking of maybe making a chicken or beef broth and cooking it with that. It's not like I can taste test it myself and see what's good - I hate tofu.

You can put fish sauce on tofu.

Fish sauce? I'm assuming that's a sauce made of fish? I bet that smells delightful. Regular grocery stores have it?

Exactly, except its made of rotted fish i think fish are salted and hung up, and the salt sucks the moisture out of the fish and it all gets caught in a bucket.
You can find it wherever you find asian seasonings, usually close to soy sauce. Take tofu and wrap it in a paper towel and let it sit in a collainder to draw out excess water. Then u can cut it into cubes and drip some fish sauce onto it to make faux rotten fish!
If you ever get curious, you can even stir fry some for a taste, but the aroma of heated fish sauce travels far and wide!

You guys are so creative! I'd never have thought they'd like tofu and there's some in my fridge right now! Thanks for the ideas!

Would the high salt content be bad for them? I'll grab some next time I go shopping and see what they think. Rotting fish, how delightful.

Def only use a drop. I'd dice it tiny, and offer 3 cubes with a drip on one of them. That way theyll be drawn to the smell, and have the option to go low sodium
I think sodium will be ok, as long as the crabs have plenty FW to regulate themselves with. I've also read that in otger species of crab, sodium distributes help harden post molt exo.
