So I bought organic kelp for my crabs- how do I feed this? I left a couple pieces soaking in one of their water bowls, is this a good idea? Thanks :)

Kelp is on the safe food list :) You can give it to them dry :)

I've never done kelp, though I am curious where you found it? I think that's something my crabbies could have in their life. lol. But I'm not sure if they'll eat it from the water dish or not? Let us know how goes. I'd just try various way and see what they seem to like best.

I got my kelp at Mountain Rose Herbs--I get most of my dried goods there.

I feed mine dry. I got mine from my local health food store. It is by the salt section. It is dried and has natural sea salt on it. It doesn't have as much protein as seaweed, but they love it. On the package it says to use for soups, beans, salads, snack or garnish. I am a vegetarian/borderline vegan (21 years now). It was introduced to me to add into my rice. I like it, but it is an acquired taste, for it is salty!! lol! One of the Veterinarians that I work with introduced it to me. She is Korean, and I think she bought it at a specialty market.

I got mine at whole foods. I tried to leave it in there dry- just as I bought it- but they wouldn't touch it. So figured i would try leaving it in some water as it changes the consistency, it is very soft in the water.

They still haven't eaten it. Maybe my crabs just don't like kelp :/

I cut mine up into little pieces, not sure if that helps or not, but that's what I do.
