Seafood scraps from grocery store

Post by IsolatedShadow » Wed Aug 07, 2019 9:08 pm

You think I would look crazy asking for scraps from the seafood counter in a grocery store?

More importantly- do you think they'll actually have scraps?

Yes. I've gotten 1 shrimp or 1 crab claw, just the "finger". These hardly weigh anything. I tell them ot's for my hermit crabs. But the manager said to call him a few days before so he could collect scraps for me. I haven't done that yet because I never really know in advance when I'm going to the store.

Did they charge you for them? how much?

I haven't gotten the scraps yet but when I purchase 1 shrimp or crab "finger" it's weighed and I'm charged the going cost. But it's usually under $1-2. And it lasts a really long time. I cut up the shrimp and freeze it and feeze the crab claw.

I’ve thought about buying shrimp from the seafood counter but I wasn’t sure if it would be ok to give to my crabs. I’m excited to know that I can. Thank you!
