I bought a moon for my crabitat! [emoji4]

Post by GotButterflies » Fri Nov 04, 2016 11:47 am

So, I was thinking about how these crabs are pulled from the wild, and what intrigued me even more about them was the episode I had of them when I upgraded tanks. (All of my crabs at the end of the new tank staring into old tank looking in that were waiting for buddies to come up). Btw, two have surfaced ! Yay! Anyways...so I thought, if they have a memory, which I believe all creatures do, why not let them have a moon! After extensive research, I found one I hope I will like! Most of the moons listed were battery, and had auto shut off...then like it was God sent, I found one made by Exo Terra! Has an Auto on/off! I have it outside of my crabitat so when the sun goes down naturally, it will come on! The crabs will see it with the glass tops! It uses an ac adaptor also! Hoping the crabs like it! I attached it to the ceiling in their room! I'll take a picture tonight too! I need to get clips to clip the cord back, but I just hung it up. I ordered it off of Amazon.

Yes, I bought it on Amazon for $19.45. Exit Terra Moonlight. I'll take a picture tonight too!

It's nighttime ~ crabs are out and about! It lights up the tank a little, picture doesn't really show it...it is a 1watt night light bulb. Moon looks realistic lit up, imho, for a crab I think it would be neat!

Yes! I can see them very well! The picture was taken with my phone. I need to do it with my camera to get a better quality so you all can see. It is cool.

I used the Velcro like type command strips Image. That way it doesn't damage my ceiling. It is very light. (No pun intended!). It does come with a magnet for inside of the cage, but, the hermits could pinch the cord, and that is not good. Plus, I wanted the entire tank to be able to view it.

So, the one downside to the moon is having it on my ceiling the light sensor doesn't pick up the natural light as well, so I had to put the moon on a timer. I took pictures with my camera and not my phone last night, will try to upload later. I love it, and I think my crabs do too.
