I need a quick quality review:

So I purchased a decorative re-purposed fish netting from Micheal's with the idea to make a cargo net over the tat. I also thought I may use it as a way for crabs to get safely in and out of water bowls. Does anyone know anything about this net? Would it be ok to submerge it, or should I just stick to using it as a climbing fixture?

Was it actual fishing net (like commercial fishing net), or something else?

If it's actual fishing net, should be fine to do whatever you want to with it. However, I'd clean it first, and I probably wouldn't put it in my water pools.

Cleaning: Vinegar/water soak or saltwater soak, air dry in the sun is what I'd do.

Net in the water bowl: Could easily foul the water due to stuff leaching out of it, growing mold, bacteria, biofilm, etc. I tend to feel most comfortable with things that I am certain are inert in water/saltwater. I don't know exactly what commercial fishing net is made out of.

I don't recommend using that net as a a way for them to get in and out of the pools. It will wick water into your substrate.

Ok. That stuff is staying out of the pools. Thanks for the feedback!

Heyo, multiple snake and lizard owner here - reptiles can carry salmonella with no symptoms. I would never recommend using anything from them for the hermits, you could inadvertently contaminate the crab tank without knowing. (Harmless to crabs, but very bad for people.)

Also, you'd have no way of knowing what went into their dinner unless you were raising the rodents yourself. You get zero info about feeders when you buy f/t.

So I was planning on adopting 3 crabs (w/ tank and supplies) next weekend, but the family hasn't responded to my messages in over a week....so I'm starting to feel like this adoption is going to fall through :(

Back to square one I guess! I'm nearly done setting up the 10 gal, I just have to attach the mesh ramps to the water bowls and clean and position the net. I've moved the moss pit up into a shower caddy, but my sub has settled to a 5.5 inch depth, so I'll probably have to add more again.

I've noticed a strange, sweet smell around the crabitat since I've set it up. Should I be concerned?

Don't give up on the adoption! People who are rehoming generally take their sweet time. We've had owners react out to adopters months later!
