Providing Shells in Temp Tats

Post by AndyCrabby » Tue Jan 16, 2018 11:32 pm

The remaking of a tank after a bacterial bloom and adding a false bottom is taking a little longer than expected. Should I add shells in the temapory tanks to avoid shell fights? I saw two of my crabs had switched shells but one of them was in the middle of a molt. I added six shells to their temp tat. Should I add more? Should I add shells to the other temp tat even if those crabs are drastically different sizes

Molting crabs typically will switch shells. Yes, I would add shells to the temp tat. It doesn't matter if the crabs are different sizes, crabs will want to try on other crabs shells if there are non available. It would be better to avoid complications by adding empty shells.

Sorry that you are going through all of this! Are you sure you even want to do a false bottom? They kind of are a pain - I personally would never do one.
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com
