How do I properly insulate Ultratherm ?

Title says all. Do I need to cover both sides of it with foil or just the back of it?

You want nothing between the pad and the tank, and the insulation between the pad and the wall.

thank you, very helpful! Also I was wondering if 80-81 degrees is good? My house stays around 68-70 degrees in the winter.

Quick question, I currently have a 12x12x18 exo terra and 11x11 ultratherm. Should the uth be installed vertical or horizontal? Or does it not matter?

It can be installed either way, but the goal is to heat the air in the tank if that helps the decision!

Please double check if the exoterra can be safely insulated. Not all UTH can.

Sorry misunderstanding the 12x12x18 is the tank size.

I'll try both ways and see which gives better results :) thanks for the input

Ooh, that is a tiny tank!! Smaller than a 10 gallon. Please don't overcrowd it, hermits need a lot of molting space to do so safely and that is about on par with the molting area of a 5 gallon. You won't be able to do much past a pair of really teeny crabs, and they will outgrow it quickly.

It's a 11 gallon tank. :)
https://imgur.com/a/QPd25 I currently have 1 crab for almost 2 years, his buddy passed due to harsh conditions. Would be okay to add another one and upgrade in a couple of years?
