A Good Look at my Pools

Post by piratetoothgir » Sat Apr 28, 2018 3:27 pm

Hi :) I thought everyone might enjoy a good view of my new pools, and the way I built them. Here’s a few pictures of them!

This is a shot of them both together.
Image

They are lined with glass beads, only on the lower container, not the top. I doubled up my pools.
Image

I’ve got plastic needlepoint mesh attached to them, I used hot craft glue to attach them, and the water is filled slightly below the glue line.

I am going to install these now! Just thought I’d share first :)

These are so great! I want to make some bowls for my crabs like these, but smaller. How large are your crabs?

Yes, hot glue is safe with water, but it won’t hold if fully submerged. Mine is just slightly above the water line :)

I have seven crabs, and my largest one is four and a half inches, which is the entire width of my palm :)

Here’s a photo of the pools in the tank.

I have ten and half inches of substrate, but I feel that it needs more. I will expanding the maximum past 12 inches this fall.

That looks very nice, but please know that the hot glue will not hold up - it will fail. Give it time. :) Love the glass bead idea - looks great! I used zip tie for my craft mesh. :) It does require your drilling to small holes into the water bowl, but you do it above the water line and you are good. :)
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com

Yeah, once the craft mesh falls off, I’ll drill holes into the container :)

Stella, what substrate do you use? I like that natural look. Also, are your plants fake ones?
