Is 10 gallons of space per E correct?
There's a video series on YouTube I like to watch by a user called "Dolphincutieworld" and I made a comment on her newest video. She keeps buying E's and one of the comments I made was that that if the person registers with the HCA, there are members here who will recommend lots of proteins for E's and 10 gallons of space per E. Someone replied to the comment and said 10 gallons wasn't right. I told them 10 gallons of space is right. They must not understand what 10 gallons of space means because the person said they had two E's about 1/2" - 1" in a 15 gallon tank. I don't have E's but a 15 is too small for E's in my opinion considering what people have said here. If anyone here has a YouTube account, I'm Slaughterhater on YouTube. Just type in "Dolphincutieworld". Maybe someone with more experience with E's will have more luck explaining than I did.

Re: E size recommendations
For Es I personally recommend 1 per 10 gallons, and two protein choices a day. I also recommend a minimum of 10-12” of substrate. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I did try explaining that they LOVE to dig. But that's all I can do.

I think there was a short discussion earlier about the merits of the “ten gallon” method. You can see it here: http://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/ph ... 0&t=117201
Actual tank space requirements will vary by size and temperament. I agree with you and GB, more space is always better. However, smaller spaces can be used under certain conditions, i.e lots of hiding places and good diet, etc., and there are some within the HCA who have the experience to prove it.
The HCA tank guide applies for all species. We just tend to be wary with Es because some may be more inclined to dig up molters. http://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/ph ... 26&t=92541
If you ask around, you’ll find all kinds of varied and yet successful arrangements. The truth is we’re all still learning!

Re: E size recommendations
The offical guide reccomends 5g per crab. Many reccomend higher/lower, but thats their own personal option.
Theres multiple ways to successfully care for your pets, so as long as if works for them... they keep doing what they doing!

Re: E size recommendations
We don't have a set gallons per crab as it is baaed entirely on the size of the crab.
ie, Teeny crabs only need a gallon to themselves, jumbos need at least 15.
