Not truely, I rounded up. I measured from the bottom to the top, it was a couple little marks under 13. But if course there's the lip at the top, so not the depth of the glass

Oh, well now I understand.
I measure from the glass, not the rim above the glass.

Sorry, I wasn't sure how they were supposed to be measured. I'm still learning aquariums, I've always had just dogs. Lol

All aquariums are all roughly the same standard sizes, give or take a 1/2 inch or so depending on the manufacturer. I've been shopping used for so long for my reptiles that I've got the sizes memorized. Gah, that sounds so sad to say out loud!

So yesterday my boyfriend and I were in Petco looking for new fish for our big aquarium. This lady was looking at hermit crabs and the sales guy was showing her all the stuff she needed. You could tell she'd done a little research, and he definitely had no clue. So anyway, I'm looking at their crabs (I don't buy but I like checking on them) and she asked if I had any. I said yes and attempted to explain some quick tips like ordering salt from Amazon and other small DIY things I've seen y'all do. She immediately said "Oh my goodness, so I can't just keep it in the plastic container and let my daughter feed it sometimes??" I told her I can't tell her what she can and can't do, but that wouldn't be a good life for them. They would be surviving but not actually living or thriving. She said oh, okay. I'll get a fish then. Thanks for not wasting my money!!
The sales guy had given her the colored sand, a bunch of shells, some food, bottles of salt water, two water shells, a sponge, etc. She basically was almost up to $100 on all that CRAP they have. (My petco has a terrible hermit crab section. It's two shelves and nothing is worth a darn. It's pathetic)
Anyways, it was nice to save a couple hermits from a sad life! And she was thankful to spend $20 on a Betta and all its needs and save the rest. Lol

If you aren't putting the crabs in right away you might consider silliconing in corner guards! I will be using them for my next build. They go in the corners so you can anchor things to them for the crabs to climb on. That is the one thing I wish I would have done with my current tank, but I was new and didn't know about them. :)

Omg great idea! I'll be waiting a couple weeks to run the bubblers in the bowls and maintain temp and humidity before I move the crabs

Omg that sounds like an awesome set of pets!!! :D we would love some more ball pythons but until we finish the spare room, we don't have any space for tanks :hlol:

Yep! I claimed the spare room as the critter room. Hubby said as long as I could fit it in there he wouldn't say no. He apparently forgot how uber organized and tidy I can be. :D

Haha! I'm glad mine has the same love for animals. We were looking at storage sheds to convert into reptile area and add some aquariums to, but we decided that the spare room never gets used and we aren't having babies anytime soon so why not?!
