Where to put thermostat probes??

This is where you discuss the conditions of your crabitat -- temperature, humidity, substrate, decorating, etc.

Where to put thermostat probes??

Post by ciaraalston » Sat Aug 11, 2018 11:23 pm

I have 2 thermostats for my tank. I had to order 2 sets of heat tape so I had to plug them each into a thermostat. It's 6 inch heat tape ran across the back of the tank. One is level with the substrate, one is right above it.
Where should I put the probes for the thermostats? I took a video of my tank so these pics are a little blurry but one is on the left side by their wood and the other is by the hamster wheel. ImageImage

They should be close to the ground, and away from the heat source of the tank.

I only have one tank that has a probe, and the probe is attached to my thermostat. I hang the probe in the middle of my tank. :) You typically want to know what the temp and humidity is by the substrate bc that is typically where the crabs are. :)
