Tank/ rescued hermit
Hello all! I recently took in a hermit crab from my sisters friend. She had the hermit for about a week and was keeping him in a tubber ware container
I had hermit crabs years ago and took this one in because he was in need. I have. 20 gallon long tank set up for him with coconut fiber substrate (I plan on adding sand today too) a UTH, and a 13 watt UVB UVA lamp. I’m feeding him a good hermit crab food and so far some fruit he seems to like apples. He has been very very inactive and it is making me very worried. The tank was literally just set up I literally knew I was getting him on Thursday and went to the store to get supplies. The tank is at about 70 degrees and 60 percent humidity. Any suggestions on raising the temp and humidity I think maybe this is why he is so inactive? Lots of advice and suggestions welcome!!!

What do you have for a lid on the tank? How large is the UTH and where is it located? What type/ brand of food are you feeding him? Is the Eco Earth moistened?

Basically, that’s awesome!

Sounds like you’re on the right track. I’m pretty new here myself, but these boards are an absolute wealth of knowledge!!! I love it. Everyone here is super helpful and love all our little tentacled pals.
Definitely check under the information folder and check out all the recommended and not recommended stuff for our little friends. I’m sure someone else with more practice can provide a link if you need one.
There’s a really good food guide, as well as some basic crab care guides that I learned so SOOOO much from. As well as which shells they typically like best, anything and everything. So, I’ll say congrats on your new friend! Are you planning to get another friend or two for him/her?

While you have the chance you may want to identify the species. Then once you get your heat (75°- 82°) and humidity (70%+) to regulation give it some more organic "people food". Once it eats some of that, give it a bit of honey to boost the energy. Oh and definitely read the care guides.
Good luck!
Good luck!
