Tank cover and humidity (still a problem)

Post by IsolatedShadow » Thu Jul 25, 2019 12:26 pm

So, I have been working on my tank ever since I joined this forum. Just yesterday I did a total makeover for my tank, which included adding EE, moss pits, and even a plexiglas top. So here's my setup so far.

I have a 30 gal tank with a plexiglas top. I have two small pieces of tupperware that hold moss in it (forest moss) and straight EE about 5-6 inches deep. I have freshwater and saltwater bowl, dechlorinated with Seachem prime. My gauge is towards the top of the tank, with a heat of 75-80, but humidity never reaching above 65%. I'm unable to get a bubbler or anything like that, as I spent all I could on my hermits for now. Is my gauge in need of callibrating, or do I still need to do something to help with the humidity?

Is it a digital gauge? Those are more accurate. Is the substrate sandcastle consistancy? Does the plexiglass cover the entire lid?

Plexi covers entire lid. It is sandcastle consistency. though, the gauge I have is a analog I bought from the pet store. I wish to get a digital one from walmart, but I don't have any money, and My aunt doesn't want to pitch in any more money at the moment. That, and she will also complain that the gauge is brand new and should be fine.

Try calibrating it.

I figured I should try that. I already started the process. will check back on it in about 5 1/2 hours and report what it says. Thanks for the help!

So I just checked my hygrometer and it read about 50%. Does that mean that my Hygrometer is 25% below? Is it broken? Or did I do something wrong??

Hmmmm…..it could be that low. You could adjust it as the care sheet outlines, then check it again. Or just get a new one, LOL.

I got a digital humidity gauge and it turns out the humidity is in the high 90s! Seems there's nothing to worry about afterall!
