Thanks a bunch!

Sounds good. Just set your desired temp for the night and hopefully you'll be good to go.Pumpkincrab wrote:In think it's working. The thermostat reads 73.0 degrees and has been going steadily up. I'm heading to bed soon so I'll check it out in the morning.
Is the pad big enough that it covers the entire length of your tank? If not, it may be too small to heat the entire tank.Pumpkincrab wrote:Update: woke up to the heat reading 75, although I set it to 82. I am going to keep working on it for a while and try to calibrate it to the way I want.
Hmmm, it sounds like it just might not give off enough heat.Pumpkincrab wrote:The heat pad covers the entire length of my tank. My lid is a mesh lid with saran wrap completely covering it and a hand towel over that to keep heat in.
Sounds good. Just be careful if your original pad had adhesive. You can't stick and restick those. The wires inside could become damaged and be a fire risk.Pumpkincrab wrote:It seems to be giving off good enough heat. I placed my original small heat pad on the tank, too, and the thermostat reads 77. I am willing to give it a chance.
I totally understand. I'm sorry if it sounded like I was telling you what to do. I just didn't want the original pad you had to be a fire hazard for you if it had the adhesive on it. I just thought I'd mention the other uth and thermostat in case your new one doesn't work well. I hope it does tho!Pumpkincrab wrote:Don't get me wrong now. If I have to, I WILL get a new heat source. I know how important it is to crabs and I would be willing to. But I just got this heat pad and I want to give it a chance. As I am still technically a child (don't feel comfortable saying age but I'm a teenager) money is a bit hard to come by. And this heat pad and thermostat was 40 dollars. I do have money in savings but I'm really hoping this heat pad pulls through. And alright.
Ok I'll def check it out!Pumpkincrab wrote:It's fine! I posted some thing I would like you to look at in Crab and care questions, If at all possible. Thanks!
