Coconut Fiber going bad?
I had seen that in the substrate guide that it refers to coco fiber getting funky? I originally had like a 5:1 ratio of coco fiber to paysand and now have the recommended 5:1 ratio of playsand to eco earth. The coco fiber was moist and I used it and mixed it to make the new 5:1 ratio. Should I be worried? And can someone elaborate just for future reference?

Not completely sure, but I think that the coco fiber they were referring to was the mats, not the eco. It's been a bit since I read that thread.

http://hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/ ... 26&t=92542Cocofiber can be difficult to get to the right moisture level, and it should be kept on the dryer side rather than the wetter side so it doesn’t get funky over time.
Literally that, if it's not rotting, it's fine.

How do you know if your EE is rotting? My sub smells like dirt, forest ground, and a tint of maybe mold?wodesorel wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 12:36 pmhttp://hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/ ... 26&t=92542
