Rust

Post by crabbycasey » Tue Feb 02, 2021 8:27 am

Ok, so what’s the deal with rust and crabs? The little plant things I have to help my crabbies get in and out of the water have a bendy part that must be metal bc I think I’m seeing rust. Is it harmful to the crabs...and if yes, how so? Curious about the how. I’ll definitely remove them if it’s dangerous though!

Thanks everyone!

There’s evidence that hermit crabs may be sensitive to heavy metals, but over the years it telephoned into metal in general being bad. Not all metal is the same.

Rust is just iron oxide, which is nontoxic. It may look unsightly but it’s not harmful.
