metal hooks on suction cups...

Post by Guest » Sun Feb 15, 2009 9:50 am

So my plants keep falling off my tank wall. They're stuck on there with velcro. Problem is, the velcro's sticky back gets damp and doesn't stick to the tank. So I got some suction cups, but they have metal hooks! :( I got some clear silicone for kitchen and bath. It's made by GE and say 100% silicone. I'm thinking I'll use it to secure the plants to the suction cups. I also am going to use it to fix up an old tank I found.

As long as it says 100% silicone it's safe correct? :?:

Yeah, it should be. It's basically the same stuff as the aquarium sealant that glues glass tanks together. It just won't be waterproof.

BUMMER! I was putting the silicone on my tank and I turned and hit the stand it was on....yup, gone...my free tank is busted! The glass is shattered! That was for my straws! When I get them! :? I'll put a note up at work...maybe someone has one!

I don't think there's any reason you couldn't use metal hooks in your crabitat:

I use metal hooks in my tanks...and nary a problem...the crabs have no interest in them and they are attached to the suction cups...

Sorry to hear about your accident Liz!
