Thank you for your suggestions and help everyone!

I got very lucky and received my Playsand very quickly. I was right though, it wasn't enough to fill my tank, so I went ahead and bought some bags of EcoEarth. Half of my tank is now EE+playsand, while the other half is 100% EE.

Within an hour or two of bringing my hermit crabs into the new habitat, they both disappeared beneath the EE and have not emerged since! Checked my camera, they haven't come out at night either. Not sure if moulting or de-stressing after a change, but regardless I'm just glad that they have suitable substrate and a better environment now.
