Does reptile sand work?

My mom bought some reptile sand for my hermit crab's tank and we are planning to mix it in with the little bit of eco earth that's currently in there. Is that ok for hermit crabs or should we take the bag back?

not if it is the calcisand calcium based kind. Its okay if it is the quartz/silica kind. I would recommend taking it back anyways because these are usually sold in small bags around 10$ and u can get a 50lb bag of playsand at homedepot or lowes for about $4. Much better value and for sure safe.

It's quartz. So even if it's mixed with eco earth it's still not good?

If it's the quartz kind than yes it is ok. I was just saying that u can get like 40lb more for half the price if u returned it and got playsand which is pretty much the same thing. That's all

Oh ok thanks. I'll probably keep it though considering I got it at petco and I don't have a petco in my town.
