Mold?

Hi, Ive had my crabitat for about a month now, and it seems like i'm always finding mold in my crabitat... is there any way to stop the growth? Its growing on my "drift wood" and on the eco earth. Is it harmful to my crabs? any help is appreciated

Mold comes with crabbing and it is only harmful to you if you have allergies to it or a compromised immune system.

You can take the driftwood out and soak it in the marine salt water mix and allow it to air dry to inhibit mold growth.

You can scrape the mold off your substrate.

The crabs will likely just pick at it or even eat it, which is fine, they eat rotting material in the wild all the time.

In their native range in Curaçao, durring the hottest part of the day, in arid areas, numbers of them will actually hide under mould & rotting vegetation.

This is because it is more moist under the mould... and perhaps a bit cooler.

So mould is a part of crab life that they depend on in some regions.
