Hermit crab calcium sand

How do I clean my calcium sand for sand can I wash it in tap water and then dry it? Or do I bake it? Thankyou!(3 (: (:

You never ever use calcium sand in a crab tank.

It is not safe for them.

It doesn't hold moisture properly and as it dries it hardens around them like cement. It also sticks to their bodies.
