Actual vs relative humidity
Actual vs relative humidity
Is the humidity range of 75-85ish relative or actual humidity? I have seen hermit crab hygrometers that showed 40-50% as the ideal humidity. I am guessing that that is actual, and the 75-85 is relative. What do most hygrometers measure--relative or actual. Thanks!

Re: Actual vs relative humidity
Your looking for relative humdity. The actual humdity - most gauges tend to not show actual... - is around 50 - 60% in our tanks.

Re: Actual vs relative humidity
Keep in mind that we recommend at least 70% RH. This is what is found in their native habitats, and has been shown to work the best for them over decades and with thousands of owners.

Thank you. I am quickly learning not much marker for hermits is safe for them. I have been researching for about 2 months, as I planned a set up for my son for Christmas. We are currently setting up the tank and researching more while we work to get it to ideal conditions before introducing the crabs!
