Moistened Substrate

How can I get the substrate wet enough without having to remove anything in the tank.
I recently completely my 55 gallon, and it doesn't have a hood yet, so the humidity hasn't been that great.

The substrate became a bit drier than it was when I mixed it a few days ago.
How can I do this properly?

If you don't have any crabs down or you know roughly where they are, you can just pour a few cups of water across the surface and it'll work itself out in about a day. I have always done it this way, even with molters down. A tightly sealed up tank will allow the moisture to distribute surprisingly evenly. Add a bit less than you think it needs, as you can always add mote later.

If it's just the surface layer, a heavy spray of the sub will do the trick.

If you have a fogger or humidifier, run it non-stop until you've added as much water as you think the sub needs. I personally like this method the best, but not everyone has a fogger. Mine broke after about a year of heavy use.

Could I use a room humidifier to help? I don't use a fogger.
I'll keep the tips in mind, I'll probably pour a bit of water across the top layer!

Thanks!

I have always used a modified room humidifier, just keep in mind it pumps out a lot of moisture. You can flood your tank easily if not paying close attention to how much water is going in!

Got my hood today, installed it.
I'll monitor the levels, and decide whether or not I'll need the humidifier.
