HCA: Hermit Crab Association

I have the ultratherm attached (well, thought I did) to the back of the tank. I used duct tape, stuff sticks to everything and in order to remove it you need a paint scraper or razor blade or that has been my experience until now. the entire heater is sliding down, it's dropped about 4". Cant have that and since duct tape isn't going to do the job, what DO I use?

I can do a quick patch job for now, but I want to move them to a taller tank as soon as the weather permits me to release the snake we took in last fall. I'm sure she'll be happier and I can quit buying frozen mice, LOL

I'm going to buy a larger ultratherm and probably 2 smaller ones for the ends (keeping the tank up to heat is a real problem in summer, can't turn the A/C down and can't leave the oil heater in the room. Would it be any help at all to double the cardboard? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I used electrical tape to fasten my heater to the tank. Not sure how different from duct tape, but maybe it's the heat that's making the duct tape give way?

Get some terex tape and tape it on the glass with the heater and boom.

You shouldn't put the majority of the tape onto the actually heating area, because heat wears down adhesives.
I would stick to placing the tape onto the clear laminate part of the ultratherm, and pressing it on tightly.

It's just on the edge, might be slightly off the plastic, but not by much. I can't get anything straight.

I use packing tape! Sticks tight for years.

Yep! It's designed to stick in a wide range of conditions. Just make sure the glass and heater are dry first. You can remove duct tpae residue with goo gone or rubbing alcohol but be careful with the fumes around the crabs!

Thanks, this will be for the larger tank, so fumes won't be a problem. Will take the old one out to work on it after everyone is moved.
