Baking branches?

Can I bake branches to act as a way to rid them of anything that could live inside of them?
I am not sure if the branches from the trees had been used with pesticides, but wouldn't baking them rid of it?

The wood has been sitting in my garage for months now, completely dried out.
I cannot find a good climbing branch for a ladder, I have looked everywhere.

No, chemicals like pesticides will still be there even after baking, boiling and cleaning. Wood is pourous and there is no good way to make it safe once exposed.

Hmm, well then I will find other branches.
The crabs can still get to the caddies above, but it's a treacherous climb and a struggle. I really want to find some way to get good branches to reach the top.

I am going to PetCo today for a 20 long, maybe I will see some long branches.
