Worried About Glass

Post by piratetoothgir » Sun May 20, 2018 8:32 am

Hello :) I have a big concern that needs answering.
I have airstones in both of my pools, saltwater, and freshwater.
The water in the saltwater pool is usually found in a salt residue on the glass, is that harmful with the UTH running?

I am unplugging my UTH sometimes during the summer, I also thought of running it only at night on a timer.
Will this constant on and off be enough to crack the glass with the water on it? I DO NOT want a cracked tank, that'd be the end for me :(
Thoughts?

When my tank was set up I had a bubbler for a couple weeks. I also had a thermostat on the heater. My tank never cracked.

Salt will not crack glass. Neither will having the heater on a timer. The only time the glass will crack is due to sudden/massive changes in temp.

Thanks, that really is relieving.
I was worried that constant heat and cooling would eventually wear down the glass causing it to crack.
