Fake Plants and Update

Post by hermiwormi » Wed May 23, 2018 4:35 pm

I am still in the process of adding things to the crabitat, therefore it is still unfinished. Today, I bought a potted fake plant, took it out of the styrofoam and took it apart. Then, I planted the parts of the plant all throughout the crabitat today. Image The tank is a 40 gallon (not a breeder), and I know it looks alot smaller on the picture, haha. The bin with the basket piece is a shell shop, where I have turbo, babylon, trochus, and a few other kinds of shells in there. There are also other shells scattered around the crabitat. I just wanted to show the crabitat progress today.Image

Thank you, and I am as well going to add in more foliage Image I want to plant chia seeds in the substrate. Will they be able to grow in the substrate? I have a mix of play sand and EE. I don't know if they're able to grow in sand or not

I had some grow unintended. Lol. Now I sprinkle some and hope it grows. It hasn't.

Aw, haha. I bet my crabs will get to the seeds before they get a chance to grow, but that's perfectly fine

I love the flowers! They make lovely accents.

I’m sure any seeds will sprout as long as they have water. Of course, that also means that they may have troubles doing so if the sand dries out, depending on how deeply planted they are.

I usually spray my sand lightly whenever it dries out, so any millet seeds my crabs have dropped sprout in no time (and are quickly devoured)!

That looks nice! Do you have any trees that are on the safe list in your area? If so, make sure they haven't been had fertilizers, pesticides or mosquito sprays in your area. Then, you can use some branches to give them climbing space. :) They are also called tree crabs.
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com

I am 100% sure that no one uses any fertilizers, pesticides, or anything of the sort Image No one has ever used any chemicals even when growing vegetable gardens. Everything our neighborhood uses is organic. The crabs love to climb the background, as it isn't 2D

If you are positive nobody has their lawns treated, (as that would treat the trees as well), and the trees are on the safe list, cut some branches for them to climb. Yes the background is 3D, but the branches are natural and are a snack as well.
