Adding substrate

Post by ha_haley » Sat Jun 23, 2018 4:18 pm

My substrate has settled and it ended up being about 3 inches lower than I wanted it to be. I think two of my crabs are molting (hopefully!) because I haven’t seen them in a few weeks and I normally see them all out together. Should I wait until my two crabs come up or would it be okay to add more substrate while they’re down?

You can add an inch of new substrate every 24 hours, but don’t pack it down.

While adding the 1 inch per 24 hours, I don’t recommend pulling anything out of the substrate for fear of collapsing tunnels that are underneath. I also don’t recommend pushing anything into the substrate. :)
