Isn't this cool?

This is where you discuss the conditions of your crabitat -- temperature, humidity, substrate, decorating, etc.

Isn't this cool?

Post by Hermiesguardian » Mon Jun 25, 2018 12:52 pm

I saw this online and thought it would be awesome. I assume the tree is resin/plastic.

And the second picture is actually a salad wheel but I thought of using it in my 90 gallon and moving the small wheel (not the pictured one) into my 40 if I set it up. My question is are the holes too big for the crabs? I know I could attach mesh but without mesh.ImageImage

That tree does look cool. Now I want one.

I’m not really sure about the salad spinner either. The holes look big enough for a crab to stick its legs a good way through, so it may be a bit of a safety hazard. If you zip tie craft mesh both inside and out you may be able to reduce the risk of injury.

Yeah. That's what I thought.

Very cool on the tree with the wheel! I have the tree hide- two of them. My hermits love them. I would kind of be concerned about a hermit getting stuck between tree and wheel.

With the salad spinner, we had a crabber on here that had one of those. I can’t remember what became of it all. I think it ended up being too big for her crabitat. I think it would be safe with craft mesh applied.

Lol. That was me. Still haven't used it. I guess it would fit in my 90 gal. I have a small spinner in there now which is still adequate. So if I have to still attach mesh to it, I might as well just stick with what I have and get another spinner for the 40 gal I may set up. But a crab getting stuck between tree and wheel is something to think about. Especially if the crabs are smaller. None of my local stores carry this, so I can't see it unless I order it.

I'm most likely going to order one, so I'll post some pictures and stuff so y'all can see it.
On Amazon it's $14
