Calcium sand

Post by crabby33 » Fri Jul 20, 2018 7:48 am

I would never ever buy calcium sand to use in my tank, it’s not recommended by reptile keepers either because of compaction concerns, but what is the verdict on mixing it with other types of substrates? Such as play sand or clean beach sand, or EE? I’m thinking it can still coat their abdomens and cement them in their shells. It’s crap in my opinion and just as dangerous as buying painted shells for them to change into.

Me neither, but I wanted to get the verdict on whether it would be safe to use with other substrates. I think the clear winner is it's just not safe to use period.
