Quantity of sand for 75 gallon tank???
We are hoping to purchase a 75 gallon tank and stand off craigslist today. I was wondering approximately how many 50 lb. bags of play sand we will need in order to get at least 10 inches of substrate. It will be mixed with Eco Earth coconut fiber bedding as well. I'm thinking at least 6-7 bags would do it. We would like to get the sand in one trip rather than making several runs for it. Thanks

250-300 lbs gave me 11-12" in a 55. I think there are between 300-500lbs in my 150 atm.

Yeah, 300-350 sounds about right. My tubs are about the size of 75s and we used about that much each for 12 inches!

Thanks for the help everyone. We have 2 large bags of Ecco Earth on stand by and about 8 gallons of distilled water to add instant ocean too. We will have lots and lots of mixing to do tomorrow, not to mention carrying each bucket one at a time up stairs to the tank.
