Vacation

Post by AwesomeHermit » Mon Aug 20, 2018 4:41 pm

In a week, I will be leaving for nine days, and no one will be watching my crabs. They are in a 20 gallon. I do know what to do for them food-wise, but I do not know what to do for anything else. What should I do so they can survive?

Goodbye my little E. See you soon.
Bye Fred. You lasted almost 4 years with me. Hope you're with my E now! See you soon Reeba as well. I can't believe I lost you only after a month.

Water. Put out extra bowls of fresh for safety. Every time there has been a vacation catastrophe it's been because of water running out, and that has even been with sitters coming!!

Could too much ammonia build up though?

Do you have bubblers in your pools? If you do they should be fine.

The water will be fine, just don't put the bubblers on full blast but enough to keep the water slightly moving.

Leave them leaf litter, snake skin, a feather, seeds, bugs to eat.

Don't leave a heat light on. This way the humidity will stay in the tank. :)

Could I use leaves and just place them around the tank? Also, I since got an UTH and I use a LED light.

Not quite sure, mine are usually on 24/7, even when I'm not home and am at my dad's house.

I would use the UTH all the time if you have already and you know it is not defective.

Hermits need a day and night cycle.

The light is on for 7am to 8 pm. I turned up the heat in my house so I do not need to use the UTH when I am gone.

Just to clarify - I was referring to the question about the bubblers :)
