I have always had to keep my heater on all day or my temp drops almost immediately, do you guys keep it on all/most of the day as well?

I have a 30 gallon tank with 1 100w heat bulb I keep in 1 side of the tank.

Once the heat gets turned off on a tank, it'll drop back to room temperature really quickly.

That’s why I only turn off the tank lights, but not the heater when I leave to go home for the weekend.

Yep- all the time basically. Adding a thermostat ASAP too- it’s just simpler than the constant monitoring that requires.
Our power went out the other day and I covered all my tanks immediately (one is a tote for the moment) but they all still dropped to 73/75 over the next hour or so. I was not happy with that bc of my molters but they’re hanging in there.
Point is, yes, it does drop and balance with room temp fairly quickly!

Crabs do require day/night cycles. I believe everyone that has replied has heat mats, not bulbs. I have an ultratherm heat mat that I keep on all the time connected to a thermostat.
