Tank switch idea

Post by odelayheehoo » Fri Jul 19, 2019 6:35 am

So, as some may know, my current setup is a 55 with a 20 gallon topper on it, and that makes my tank 75 gallons worth of total empty space. I just got my hands on a brand new 75 gallon aquarium which is 48x18x21.

I was wondering if it made any sense at all to switch the crabs over from their current setup into this 75, it's the same amount of space, but they get extra depth, but I would not be able to get a topper until much later on, they are too expensive for my current situation.

Thoughts?

I'd personally switch them over. While all that your adding is an increase in width, it also increases surface area. This means more roaming space (they tend to spend majority of time on substrate) moulting space and generally more positive than negatives (besides temporary decrease in climbing space and the work required to change them over)

I appreciate your input, but I am sorry about the fact that I just created this thread, but I have just finished thinking it over and discussing it with other household members, and we think that it may not be such a great idea at this time.

If things change and we are indefinitely able to get them into this tank, then I can make that decision when it's best.
