New to crabbing we have a house on Puget Sound. There’s some beautiful driftwood on the beach, if baked (or another better sanitizing method) could we use driftwood from the beach?

I have used driftwood from a lake (fresh water, I don't live anywhere near the ocean, LOL). I gave it a good wash with salt water and baked it, and haven't had any problems with it. I am not an expert, so not sure if it would work with all types of wood or drift wood, but that's what I did.

I brought driftwood home from a trip to Lake Superior. I soaked it in water and kosher salt like I read to use and baked it until the wood was dry. And my wood started to mold within a couple days. So I took it out. I have no clue what the issue was.
