Sanitizing Sand

Post by DUDE » Mon Jul 13, 2020 8:12 am

In my area in Asia, I cannot seem to find play sand anywhere and I heard that building sand could be used for substrate. However, it was stated that the building sand should be sanitized(I think with water??) but I still do not quite understand how to disinfect it. Any help will be appreciated:)

If the sand is already washed you shouldn’t need to do it again. Otherwise you can rinse it outside.

Maybe? Washing is usually done to remove fine silt and contaminants. You can use hot water if you want, but baking the sand would probably be easier if you’re worried about mold, insects, or pathogens.
