Craft Mesh With Thermometer/Hygrometer

I've seen many people have their therm/hygros wrapped in a sort of cage with craft mesh, and I'm wondering how that's actually done? Is there a specific kind of plastic craft mesh that needs to be used?

Usually it's the mesh you find at craft stores like Michael's for about .70-.80 a sheet. I got a whole bunch of sheets at AC Moore before they went out of business. Then you use zip ties to hold everything together. I don't know how to make them, but I know Motörcrab and Xenocrab sell them in their Etsy store.
