Coconut fiber mats

Post by Brian_T » Mon Jun 07, 2021 7:58 am

Does anyone know if those coconut fiber mats they sell for hanging baskets and such at the garden center are treated or otherwise not crab safe?

Thanks

I looked at a few of them and they said "treated with natural latex". For me, that's a no, since I have no clue what "natural" latex is.

Some crabbers have used the plant coconut fibre mats in the past. They very similar to the ones sold for crabs, so wouldn't be surprised. In saying that, they could use different binding agents so I would avoid just in case, as the ones at the pet store aren't * that* expensive.
