Mason Sand

Post by CrabbyLover77 » Thu Jun 10, 2021 9:07 pm

I read on here that pool filter sand is safe to use for crabs. I am assuming that is the same thing as mason sand? I just had an above ground pool put in and have left over mason sand. I just wanted be sure and ask here if that is ok to use in my crabitat.

Thanks!!

Pool filter sand is purer and more thoroughly washed. Mason sand is also washed and screened, though, so I don’t see an issue with it.

Thanks JH. It is yellow bar mason sand, which is supposed to be very fine. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't going to be too dusty or anything. It has been sitting out in the rain in a big pile since it's been raining all week. I can always bring a bucketful in and let it dry out.
