We’ve had our crab a little over a month and learned so much during this time! He went down to molt almost immediately and just finally came out about a week ago. I know now that we should have a few more inches at least of sand (there’s about 3” currently and our crab is small), but right now crabby is underground all day and comes out to move around at night. If I’m 99% sure where it is during the day is it ok to carefully remove everything and add more sand? I don’t want to bury him, but I don’t know when to do it otherwise since he’s (we say he but I have no clue) always down there!

Thank you!!!

You can add more sand while a crab is underground, just don't drop it in from a height or pack it down. I wouldn't remove any items that are partially in the sand, because you don't want to collapse any tunnels or caves. Alternately, if you are certain that he has been under for less than a day, you could just dig him up, since you know he's not actively molting.
