HCA: Hermit Crab Association

I’ve noticed that my crabitat has been severely dropping temperatures and is now only 75 degrees regularly. This has made my crabs much less active, they have been moving extremely slowly, if at all. How can I keep the heat inside my tank? I already use a heating pad on the back, with tin foil behind it to keep the heat going into the tank. My humidity is at 86%.

If you have a grated lid, you can wrap some plastic wrap around the lid to keep the heat in. You can also put a blanket on top.

If you haven't already insulated the other parts of your tank (like the rest of the back and the sides, not just over the heat mat), you can add that. And as already suggested, a blanket or other insulation on the top. Or you can add another heat mat.

Thanks so much for the advice! I just put a towel on the tank, that covers the heat mat on the back, the top of the tank, and two sides. Will this work? Is this possibly a fire hazard?

I think that depends on the heat pad. If it is a heat pad that has the sticky on it, then it can be a fire hazard. If you have something like the ultratherm fr beanfarm or the Fluker's that you have to tape on yourself, it should be fine.
