The lamp I have is a Exo Terra 120V, 60Hz., 1x26W Max. Type A or CFL Lamp. None of that means anything to me. Its just a lamp i found around my house and ive been lighting my tank with it.

Im pretty sure its for lizards or something.

Anyway, the light burned out and before i just went with the bulb that came with the exo terra light and never gave it another thought. The bulb it came with it says, Repti Glo 10.0UVB. self-ballasted lamp. 26W 120V 60Hz. I dont know if any of that is relevant.

I have regular daylight lightbulbs for a replacement but they are 60W LED, 800 lumens. They seem quite a bit brighter then my original bulb and it does get pretty hot. (At least, the bulb itself does.)

My crab is down for her molt right now so its not an immediate issue. But should i get her a less bright bulb? Move the lamp off the top of her tank a bit so it doesn't get as hot? The lamp sits right on top of her 10g tank. Shes a single crab. Its not a heat lamp.

I have never used any lighting in my tanks, since it sits in a room that has a window and natural indirect light.
Does the light seem to affect the heat and humidity in the tank?

Have you had a read through of our 'lighting' care sheet?
