Hi everyone!
Hey guys, I'm ElektraSparkle and I've been a crab owner for roughly 5 months. This isn't my first post though as I had a situation two nights ago and forgot to introduce myself properly. I've been reading posts on here since before becoming a member as advice from other experienced crabbers is better than your generic pet shop leaflet.
I hail from Australia and have two Australian Land Hermits, Speedy and Slowpoke. They both came from the same tank at the same pet shop. Their personalities are very different. Speedy is very active and I frequently catch him digging in the tank, eating or having a bath. Slowpoke on the other hand doesn't like to come out much. He's very shy but will come up every now and again for a bit of a wander. Slowpoke's name is a bit of a misnomer actually; when you do catch him up and about he zips all over the tank!

Sorry for my lack of crabby knowledge, but which kind are Australian crabs, ruggies?

Aussies are more similar to Es but an Aussie has a distinct M shaped marking on the carapace shield. They're different to Ruggies from what I've read (never come across a ruggie here in Australia before.)kieagcarm wrote:Sorry for my lack of crabby knowledge, but which kind are Australian crabs, ruggies?

To my knowledge, the only crabs available in Australia are aussies (native) and strawberries.
These aren't my pictures, but,
